Sephora Skin Forecast Feature: Overcome the weather
Sephora: A well-known makeup department with stores all over the globe.
Oppurtunity: Consider a new feature for the Sephora Canada app
Solution: Adapt a customisable skincare feature according to Canada’s changing weather

Key Insights
There are several quizzes available on the app but the user’s information is never stored even though the user has already been onboarded and is required to create an account to use this feature.
After the test results there are no customized product suggestions thereby voiding any reason for Sephora to have a quiz for their users on their app.
After a user makes a selection in a quiz, the page automatically moves on to the next page/ question which does no comply with web accessibility guidelines.
Target Audience
Sephora’s target demographic is women between the ages of 16–55 years old with a high disposable income. Its customer base also includes men aged 20–40 years old with concerns about their skin and hair health.
The Process
In-Person Interviews: Key Insights
Interviewed people from several user groups, in and out of glasses stores from ages 21-40 years
Interviewees found the app to be confusing and wondered why the quiz answers had not been stored.
These insights fuelled the decision to create an easy-to-use interface for a skincare quiz with simple question but not too many overwhelming options.
Challenges Faced
Some of the challenges that had to be overcome were during the “weather graph” stage of the project. Not only must the user be able to see the weather forecast for the week but they should be able to see the skin care recommendations as well without the page becoming too overwhelming.
The solution was to break the Skin Forecast Results page into two parts. One part would show the forecast chart for the upcoming days and the second part would show all the products that the user has been suggested.

Next Step:
Global Roll-Out: Currently this feature is only for Canada but eventually will be released globally on a country-by-country basis.
